Imagine wearing contacts from the same brand, with identical materials, water content, and diameter. Strangely, one series feels great, while the other is uncomfortable.

The culprit? The base curve difference.

Your eyes might feel discomfort if you're wearing colored contacts with an incompatible base curve. So, before you switch brands, check the base curve to find what suits you best.

What is base curve on prescription?

The base curve is the curvature of the eye. Your eye doctor measures your base curve during an eye exam using a keratometer.

What happens if you wear the wrong base curve?

Want to know how does base curve affect vision? Here’s the answer:

• Base curve Too Large: The lens might slip or shift easily on your eyeball.
• Base curve Too Small: Tightness, irritation, redness, and blurred vision can occur as the lens sticks uncomfortably to your eyeball.

The normal range of base curves is 8.3mm to 9.0mm and the most common one is 8.6mm.
